Newborn Outfits

First, let me start off by saying congratulations! I'm sure you're feeling a whirlwind of emotions after the birth of your little one. And choosing what they should wear for a newborn session doesn't have to be stressful! So if you're stressed, do me a favor and take a deep breath! You've got this!

The Birthday Suit:

One of the most simple outfits is no outfit, especially for a newborn! This works really well for that classic, birth announcement! If your baby does welll without clothes or swaddles, this is a great go-to! If your baby wakes up very quickly and is upset with being exposed to the air, I suggest choosing a different route. (Or increasing the heat in the room beforehand).

A simple onesie:

This is a great option if you don't want to have birthday-suit images! Try and choose a neutral colored onesie. This includes neutral/pastels in pinks, blues, purples, etc. That way, the attention will still stay on your baby, not anything else in the photo.

Swaddle:

Another classic! Swaddling your baby during a newborn session keeps them warm, and usually, asleep! There are so many types of swaddles, too. There are many with patterns, neutrals, and even sport team themed.

Accessories/Add ons:

What do I mean by accessories? For girls, a headband bow can add a lot to the photo. You can also add a small skirt, hat, or even sunglasses! I've seen newborn boy photos where the baby is laying on a football. Using a box, basket, or even a basinet are great options and opportunities to add your own family's flare to the session. My warning here is that you don't want to add so many props that your newborn gets lost in the photo. With too many add-ons, your baby could blend in with the rest of the surroundings. So let's make sure to keep them front and center!

Talk soon,
